Wow! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this translates into nearly 40,000,000,000 (40 billion) gallons of water for 500,000 barrels of oil, or (at 42 gallons per barrel) that's 952,380,952 barrels of water for 500,000 barrels of oil...time to harvest more rain and sun.

With the way that people are so slowly getting the message about the water problem, you’d think the information is coming to them by telegraph, but here's an article from the UK's Telegraph in case you've missed the latest western-US-drought news.

Agriculture could save a lot more water than it does. But how? Here's an LA times op-ed by fellow NM author, Doug Fine, on the subject.

It's good to see Santa Fe setting an example with regards to conserving water. Melissa is featured in this article by Bob Shaw up in the Twin Cities.

Great to be featured again in the multiple award-winning New Mexico Magazine (July 2014). Thanks to Charles Mann (for the photo) and Kate Nelson (for the article). We have a nice stunning set of pictures from this garden which has a pumice-wick water-harvesting system in place. I'll have to make an album of the project someday.

Here are some close-ups of some of the species that make it all possible. For where would we be without birds and the bees to whom these beauties bring life? Where would we be without the bugs (the vast majority of which are carnivorous--meaning they eat other bugs and therefore help our gardens)? Where would we be without the force that drives the green fuse? Destroyed. That's where.

Thanks, SFH, for having my book in your downtown window for the third year in a row! Did you know that you reduce your water footprint by 50% when you buy hemp clothing as opposed to cotton and that government regulation makes the cost of hemp unnaturally high? Please support this industry whenever you can!
